1. Internal Conflict- A conflict that takes place within the mind if a character.
External Conflict- Is a struggle between a character and his or her surroundings or between two.

2. Henry:

Internal:
1. Henry loves Pats but Paty does not love him back.
2. Henry has a desire to find Piere, but can't find him.
3. Henry has dreams and day dreams of him being tortured in war.

Henry's internal are mostly about what he feels he needs and wants to do. He loves Pats and wants to marry her , but she dosn't love him back and he is always looking for some way for her to accept him. He also feels the guilt and the need to Find a french boy named Piere who saved him from the GETSPO, and helped him to freedom. Ever since then he has had the need to go and find/help Piere just as Piere had helped him. Another internal conflict that Henry has is that he has dreams and day dreams of him reliving his time in war prison and flying his bomber. I think he gets them from trying to go back to Europe where his nightmares came from, and thinking about them to much.

External:
1. France does not trust American GI's.
2. Soviets are making propoganda that America is trying to take over the french economy.
3. France is destroyed and targeting Americans like Henry for money.

All of Henry's external conflics are way beyond his control, and most are directed against him and his country. One of them is that France does not trust American GI's like Henry because the Russian propaganda has targeted the US. for trying to take over France's economy. Another conflict for Henry is that the French are targeting Americans for money in exchange for counterfiet ration cards and overcharging.

5. Le Patron:

Internal:
1. Did not like de Gulle a comander for the French.
2. Would fight for his country to the death.
3. Felt responsible for all of the deaths caused by the Nazis in his town.

Le Patron's internal conflics were not about his guilt and careness(?) toward his people. He felt guilty because he felt responsible for all of the deaths caused by the Nazis and SS. officers through his careness(?) when they over ran his village. He felt the need to fight for his country in battle outnumbered even if it ment death. Another conflict was that he was not fond of De Gulle because of his unfulfilled promise of troops when he called for help.

External:
1. De Gulle would not give him air support promised.
2. German SS. officers came and destroyed there town.
3. His town was destroyed.

Le Patrons external conflicts were about things he wanted to prevent even his he died doing it. De Gulle didn't give him airsupport when he promised it to help Le Patron defend his village. Since no airsupport came his village was destroyed by the Germans. His village was destroyed and taken over by the Nazis even in his effort to protect home and his people.

ANTHONY-YOU'VE GIVEN GOOD EXAMPLES OF CONFLICTS FOR THE TWO CHARACTERS CHOSEN. SOMETIMES THE EXPLANATIONS ARE BLURRED IN THAT YOU USE THE SAME IDEAS FOR BOTH KINDS OF CONFLICTS. A BETTER EXPLANATION WOULD CLARIFY YOUR INTENDED RESPONSE.
